Super Soaker Shotgun!--Man arrested for disguising gun in super soaker

Two officers were patrolling an area near Barton and Nevada avenues when they saw a man carrying what appeared to be a Super Soaker water gun on a rifle sling around his neck, said Sgt. Rick de Jong. When the officers approached the man, they found the toy had been turned into a home-made shotgun built into the plastic shell of the water gun, de Jong said. The weapon, commonly called a “zip gun,” was loaded, he said. The man was booked into the Fresno County Jail on charges of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, and manufacture of an illegal weapon.

  1. "If an adult buys a gun and gives it to a child that's not a crime in Alabama," said the sheriff. "There's no restriction whatsoever in that so the responsibility comes back ammo for sale to us as an adult. If I put a child in the front seat of a car with me and I don't put on a seat belt and something bad happens I'm responsible....So the lesson is for people to take these things very seriously, to make sure we're doing everything we can to ensure that safe practices are followed whatever the device is."
